A remnant of the follow-up to “Sunset Manor: Images, Light, Elation.” I wanted this one to hint at the intensity of the rest of the “Wintersea” album. One of three songs on “Wintersea” with vocals. I took quite a bit of inspiration for this tune from the song “Empty Streets” by a band called In The Woods… that touches on seasonal changes. Other big inspirations for this song are two of my favorite bands: Opeth (their acoustic stuff) and The Sword (in particular their album “Low Country”). It is meant to draw you in, spring some hope, but also depict how hope can bring about hesitancy. I wrote a poem years ago that served as a foundation for how this song came about:
In the Pacific Northwest, we have different ghosts.
The ghosts of dogs we loved.
The ghosts of tree we touched.
The ghosts of passersby we saw.
The everyday ghosts of our lovers.
Significant others.
The ghosts of ourselves we loved, hated, despised, longed-for.
We’re in love with the dead.
lyrics
Seasons reveal
Specters of past
Ever among us
Grim to the last
Spring's for the hopeful
The summer, a dance
Autumn hid waiting
The blight of the frost
Ghosts of the winter
Forsaken, aghast
Will we remember
Their song
Their lamentations
With us to the end
Fear not their haunting
As long as there’s light

The absolutely positive impact that this album has had on my life can't be described with words. Whenever I listen to it, it teaches me something new. My favorite track is "Scaling Mount Improbable." Dundar The Barbarian
This album is simultaneously elegant and humble. The track "A weather front was stalled out in the Pacific--like a lonely person, lost in thought, oblivious of time" takes me on a journey. Dundar The Barbarian
Excellent, atmospheric, instrumental prog/post-metal to lose yourself into. The combinations of stuttering guitar shreddage with the soaring walls of sound over the top are beautiful. Dundar The Barbarian
Combining jazz-infused prog, ‘70s heavy metal and stoner doom, thrash metal, and grunge, the Puerto Rican legion’s debut is nothing short of a behemoth. Bandcamp Album of the Day Nov 7, 2018
