This song appears courtesy of my band Heathens Of Wild Lore (HOWL for short), and ultimately of my songwriting partner Travis Johnsey. I believe we wrote this song back in 2021, and, for me, it is one of the best things Travis and I have created together. It’s a song about transition, particularly between human connection, and the active processing that goes on during that change. Resistance and acceptance, realization and forging ahead. I tried to treat my vocals in a way that expressed myself singing through a ship radio as the vessel is going down. It’s so damn good to have others to sing with. Thank you Travis, Jenna, Jason, Tyler, Josh and Garret.
lyrics
I see you wild on the horizon
Big brown eyes, beautiful, smiling
I'll take your soul and drift away
Make love and war every day
I've got an issue with myself
Live inside my own hell
But you could never even tell
I keep it together so damn well
I'm fading away in the darkness
Letting my soul breathe
I know you're on my heels
I'm unlocking the empty
I'm looking to believe
That you were the one I fell
I heal myself with a potion
Beautiful and dark like the ocean
And when I rise from beneath
I know you can't see
All these questions hanging over me
Now I've opened all the doors
Flooding all of the floors
Rattle, shift, and shake away
Climb the stairs to reach the top
But the last door is still locked
Turn around and drink the rain
I've got not reason to unwind
I feel I'm wasting precious time
That I'll never regain, no
I've got just one place left to go
It ain't the top that much I know
Turn around and sink away

Travis Johnsey and Greg Dunbar: Lyrics
The absolutely positive impact that this album has had on my life can't be described with words. Whenever I listen to it, it teaches me something new. My favorite track is "Scaling Mount Improbable." Dundar The Barbarian
This album is simultaneously elegant and humble. The track "A weather front was stalled out in the Pacific--like a lonely person, lost in thought, oblivious of time" takes me on a journey. Dundar The Barbarian
Excellent, atmospheric, instrumental prog/post-metal to lose yourself into. The combinations of stuttering guitar shreddage with the soaring walls of sound over the top are beautiful. Dundar The Barbarian
Combining jazz-infused prog, ‘70s heavy metal and stoner doom, thrash metal, and grunge, the Puerto Rican legion’s debut is nothing short of a behemoth. Bandcamp Album of the Day Nov 7, 2018
