about
Friends, I would like to present to you my debut vocal recording as Dundar The Barbarian: "Familiar Drifting Away"
This will be the second song on my upcoming fully vocal album "Sunset Manor: Images, Light, Elation" and it's the big 17.5 minute song.
"Familiar Drifting Away" is a journey of a song. For me, it covers a significant span of my life, from when I graduated from college and shared experiences with some of the best people I could ever hope to know, to meeting my beloved partner, to witnessing her harrowing recovery after a major surgery, and to discovering my sense of purpose with environmental work. Lots of stuff scattered throughout too.
You're going to hear me doing harsh vocals for the first time, but don't worry, it's all metal ;) my vocal cords are fine btw haha.
Hope this song helps you get out some emotion that may be happening right now. Peace.

lyrics
Fall
Fall to your knees
And scream
Fall
Fall to your knees
And scream
Upon the ground
I place my hands
To shape the earth
Into the soil
The air
The sky
The water
If the roots won't grow
I'll bury my hands into the snow
Into the cold
Into the end
Of all I know
Into the snow
Death of my identity
Ingest
All The
Gifts of our
Natural phenomena
Visualize
Fantasize
Realize
There's not one reality
Blindness
Sunlit obfuscation
Collapse
And clutch at nothingness
Revive
Restore
Relive
Reborn
Prepare for the return of the cycle
And if the roots won't grow
I'll bury my hands into the snow
Shatter your mind
Cut open your skin and tendons
Let the blood pour
To breathe again
There is no hope
The pain is unending
Tear your flesh down to the bones
And wither to the end of life
Tremble
And now it's done
This is the end of all we know
And still you hallow your sense of control
Until the sunset falls
Until the dusk rises
The path awaits
What will unfold
Is nothing that has been seen or heard
The path awaits
Send it
Send it
Send it
You took my hand
And danced with me on the hills
Gone
Gone are the days
When I could hold
You in my arms
When I could gaze
Into your eyes
When we could dance
When you were here
Beyond the stars they'll speak your name
While far below the earth you'll remain
After the sunset falls
After the dusk rises
The path awaits
What will unfold
Is nothing that has been
Seen or heard
After the sunset falls
Fuck
Fly
Send it now

The absolutely positive impact that this album has had on my life can't be described with words. Whenever I listen to it, it teaches me something new. My favorite track is "Scaling Mount Improbable." Dundar The Barbarian
This album is simultaneously elegant and humble. The track "A weather front was stalled out in the Pacific--like a lonely person, lost in thought, oblivious of time" takes me on a journey. Dundar The Barbarian
Excellent, atmospheric, instrumental prog/post-metal to lose yourself into. The combinations of stuttering guitar shreddage with the soaring walls of sound over the top are beautiful. Dundar The Barbarian
The Ocean adds electronic depths to their cinematic post-metal sound on their latest, closing out their paleontology-inspired album cycle. Bandcamp New & Notable May 23, 2023
Seattle’s Laden captures the storm and stress of the greatest, grimmest post-metal, crafting songs from 20-megaton riffs. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 29, 2022
